The Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.) is committed to maintaining the privacy of our website visitors and donors and to maintain the confidentiality of your personal information.

The personal information you provide is solely utilized to process and receipt your donation, to provide you with updates, or to respond to any of information requests you may have. Donor anonymity will be respected if requested and where applicable. Upon request, we allow you full access to your information and we will maintain its accuracy according to your instructions.

Visitor logs are used on this site for statistical purposes only. No attempt will be made to identify or collect personal information about users. Suffolk County  S.P.C.A. may automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser, which may include your IP address, session time, click path analysis, and the pages you request. Suffolk County  S.P.C.A. will only use this type data in an aggregate form which does not identify you personally.

The Suffolk County S.P.C.A. does not sell, rent, or trade consumer mailing lists.

The Suffolk County S.P.C.A. strives to keep donors informed about how donations are used and their importance for continuing our programs. We send several mailings a year to accomplish this and include a donation coupon to invite financial support. Most Suffolk County S.P.C.A. supporters want to receive all of our mailings and newsletters. However, you may opt out of any and all mailings by contacting us with your request.

Email Communications

We occasionally send out an email newsletter and direct email communications to Suffolk County S.P.C.A. site visitors to highlight news and information. You can elect not to receive communications from us, either by e-mail, writing or telephone or by noting your preference in response to communications from us.

 


Upon due consideration by and between the Board of Directors, it is hereby resolved that the Suffolk County SPCA (hereinafter "SCSPCA") shall adopt a Conflict of Interest resolution.  Said resolution shall be binding upon all members of the SCSPCA and its Board.  No member, regardless of their position in the SCSPCA, shall engage in any conduct which would result in a conflict of interest to the SCSPCA.  No such individual shall receive any beneficial interest in the course of his or her duties with the SCSPCA which would be in direct conflict with the goals and interests of the SCSPCA.  Moreover, should such an individual encounter the possibility of receiving any such benefit that would be a conflict of interest with the SCSPCA, said benefit should be immediately and fully disclosed to the Board of Directors.

Measuring Effectiveness Policy

 

“WHEREAS, the Suffolk County SPCA board of directors seeks to establish a policy on effectiveness assessment to help ensure that the organization has defined, measurable goals in place and objectives in place to evaluate the success and impact of its program(s) in fulfilling these goals and objectives,

 

“IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the board of directors adopts the following policy:

 

  1. At least once every two years, the Suffolk County SPCA will review its goals and objectives toward achieving its mission and will complete a performance and effectiveness assessment of its programs based on that review.
  2. This first such assessment will be in 2007 and will be conducted under the authority of the audit committee of the Board.
  3. The Suffolk County SPCA Board will receive a written report of this assessment

 

(a)   Describing the activities that the Suffolk County SPCA undertook in the prior two years to achieve its goals and objectives,

(b)   Identifying the measures used to assess the Suffolk County SPCA’s effectiveness in achieving its goals and objectives,

(c)   Analyzing the effectiveness of the Suffolk County SPCA’s programs in achieving its goals and objectives,

(d)   Recommending future actions the Suffolk County SPCA might take to increase effectiveness based on the findings.

 

  1. At the conclusion of this process, the Suffolk County SPCA board of directors will revise the goals and objectives for the Suffolk County SPCA, as needed, for the upcoming term and will suggest means of measuring them.
